Daniel Radcliffe's makes his UK TV return with My Boy Jack on ITV1: the tragic story of Rudyard Kipling's son, a boy soldier who never returned from the trenches of the First World War.
Timothy Spall stars in ITV1's A Room with a View and it's being dramatised by Andrew Davies, which guarantees an edgier, sexier take on the tale than EM Forster imagined.
If you can't imagine Celebrity Love Island done in Tudor style, watch Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jeremy Northam in BBC2's Tudors. It's Henry VIII's first few years as King and, married to his first wife, pursuing his second, and wooing every maiden who catches his eye, he's a bit busy.
So too is Frankenstein, as the infamous doctor and his more infamous creation are reborn: this time in ITV1's one version, the doctor is Helen McRory and she's experimenting with stem cells. James Purefoy and Lindsay Duncan also star.

Stephen Poliakoff, uses a beautiful but abandoned house as the setting for two closely linked films - Joe's Palace on BBC1 and Capturing Mary on BBC2 - that explore the themes of loss, loneliness and hidden passions.
Dame Judi Dench stars in Elizabeth Gaskell's most famous tale, Cranford Chronicles, on BBC1 in a big-budget period drama retelling of the lovelorn but rebellious Miss Matty Jenkyns.
At the opposite end of the scale is a modern piece, It's a Free World, with controversial director Ken Loach making his first TV drama in years. Showing on Channel 4, it's about the exploitation of immigrants living in Britain.
Then Denise Van Outen will play a faded soap star in The Empress's New Clothes, just one of several Fairy Tales for BBC1. And Tony Marchant, writer of Holding On, brings a thriller, Whistleblower, to ITV1.
