Hazel and Len are dancing a New York Step. They step forward into a right side-by-side position; Len steps forward with his right foot and Hazel steps forward with her left foot. They both then rock back onto the other foot: Len onto his left foot and Hazel onto her right foot.

They both dance a cha-cha-cha to the side to face one another. (This can now be repeated on the other foot so that you end in a left side-by-side position. Remember to always follow with a cha-cha-cha.)

Having danced just one New York in a right side-by-side position and a cha-cha-cha you can then repeat the foward basic movement as shown in pictures one to three.
