This is the sole time the entire cast will be together: it's the script readthrough, a way for the actors to familiarise themselves with the pace of the piece - much harder to do when reading is done alone. Often, there will be rewrites, maybe after one line gets a good reaction or another feels like it could be phrased in a better way.
