In 2006, Natasha Kaplinsky left the Breakfast sofa to join George Alagiah on the Six o'Clock News. Initially she temporarily replaced Sophie Raworth, who was on maternity leave, but in April was confirmed as a permanent presenter. Sophie Raworth took over the one o'clock bulletin.
