The UK has been in Eurovision right from the start - or nearly, anyway, we missed out on the first year - and every tune since then is lodged in your brain. Oh, yes, they are, even if only (ooh aah) just a little bit.

Put a face to the bing bang a bongs and see all the hopeful smiles before the judging panel made their mind up and voted us rock bottom. Or top, obviously.

"That's my trouble," said 1960 UK entrant Bryan Johnson, "no-one ever remembers my face." But he was a star for his voice, especially after his Eurovision song Looking High, High, High came second. He died in 1995, aged 69. (Image © BBC)
