"As the countdown to the start of a brand-new channel ends, a brand-new Countdown begins," said original Countdown host Richard Whiteley as the beloved game show was the first programme ever shown on Channel 4. It's still being made and Carol Vorderman has been there since the start - but now it's hosted by Des O'Connor.
