No-one expects a soap wedding to be a fun occasion, least of all in Holby City, but TV's most dismal medics excelled themselves when they celebrated - no, that's not the right word, so let's say marked - the marriage of Faye and Joseph.

It was a rivetingly joyless affair. An air of gloom seemed to hang over proceedings like a damp duvet. Stilted conversations, broken glasses, unfunny speeches - it had it all.

Grim-faced groom Joseph (Luke Roberts) was determined not to be late - and who can blame him: Faye already has quite enough late husbands. Three, if you're counting, and...

On Sunday, Beinazir left the Big Brother house after failing to gain housemate status. Now, Sophia and Halfwit (who was made a housemate after agreeing to change his name from Freddie via deed poll) have become the first housemates of the series to be nominated for eviction by the rest of the group.

Halfwit and Sophia now face the public vote to see who will be evicted. The announcement will be made live on the show at 9:00pm Friday on Channel 4, with the eviction at 10:35pm.

So, who would you have nominated? And who do you think will go on Friday? Post...

The Best...Blackadder series

Rowan Atkinson as Edmund Blackadder in Blackadder the Third

Show me an episode of Blackadder and, as the man himself might say, I'm as happy as Happy Jack McHappy, the winner of this year's Mr Happy competition. Funnier than most comedy shows around, if about as factually accurate as The Tudors, it's simply great entertainment.

All of Edmund's incarnations have something to recommend them - yes, even the much-derided first one. But my all-time favourite series is Blackadder the Third.

As the put-upon butler to the crass and loudmouthed Prince Regent (a gem of a performance by Hugh Laurie), Blackadder is, verbally, at his most vicious. Rowan Atkinson wrings every last...

Yes, Gene Hunt will be firing up the Quattro for one last time!

1980s-set time-shift police drama Ashes to Ashes, starring Philip Glenister as the no-nonsense copper, will return for a third and final series in 2010, and the producers are promising further fireworks - and are even hinting at a possible return for Sam Tyler (John Simm's character in the original series, Life on Mars).

Co-creator Ashley Pharoah said: "We are as excited as the viewers to see how Alex's (Keeley Hawes) journey ends and we promise the third series will be packed full of intriguing twists and...

The Apprentice: The Final

Yasmina Siadatan, winner of The Apprentice 2009

It must have been a bit weird for Kate and Yasmina on that final night, just the two of them in the penthouse that used to sleep 15. And when Kate answered the phone to Sir Alan's PA the next morning, I did wonder if she might just decide not to wake her opponent up.

But, no, we got our final competition - each of the girls was asked to launch a new brand of chocolates - and with some of the fired candidates returning to help out, there was plenty of entertainment to be had.

Philip found an outlet for his creative urges, choreographing...

Angel - Angel's eccentric entrance with top hat and cane was reminiscent of a white Grace Jones and, indeed, the Russian boxer and artist also "used to be rock star in my country". She believes that in the future, there will be a war between fit and unfit people. "Hello, crazy people," she said on entering the house. Er, pot, kettle…

Beinazir - Make-up-caked Beinazir would like to find love in the house. She has brought 149 pieces of jewellery to aid her in her quest. Beinazir says she is an Amy Winehouse lookalike which, frankly, is an insult to both of them. 1 comment

Emmerdale

It's just as well that no-one tried to fill the villainous boots vacated by Cain when he departed the Dales. Now back and in fiendish form - after antagonising Andy and the Wyldes, he's turning his attentions to the Kings - Cain would have demanded his footwear back, likely with menaces.

But Cain may be the least of Andy's worries as he seems to sink deeper into a miasma of misery and begins acting even more strangely than usual. In fact, so bewildered is Andy that Debbie starts to feel sorry for him. Let's hope she doesn't tell her dad. Cain, of course, has other fathers' daughters on...

The Apprentice: Week Eleven

"This is the job interview from hell!" No, really. This is the week when Sir Alan sends in his four hired hitmen (or rather three hitmen and one obligatory hitwoman) to take out three more of the candidates.

But these aren't the kind of assassins who favour a single, clean head-shot from a high-powered rifle mounted on the roof of a nearby building. Sir Alan's cronies like to get up close and personal, and toy with their victims before they dispatch them.

So we had trouble-shooter Claude Litner tell James, "I've had a look at your CV and it's fair to say that it...

Britain's Got Talent - the Final

Winning dance troupe Diversity in action

The right act won, of course. Diversity, the thrilling, exhilarating, endlessly inventive dance troupe thoroughly deserved to take the Britain's Got Talent crown in Saturday's final. They were breathtakingly good, their routines packed with humour and endless imagination.

They were nice boys too. My weary middle-aged heart fluttered at the decency and good manners of Diversity's choreographer and driving force, Ashley Banjo. My faith in human nature was restored by Banjo's politeness and charm, and the fact that there was no X Factor-y sobbing, pleading or over-emoting about "journeys". Banjo was the rarest of TV talent show contestants - a man with a sense...

Ahead of the penultimate episode, the You're Fired presenter assesses the chances of the last five Apprentice candidates.

"I've got a lot of admiration for anyone with the balls to go on The Apprentice. There may not be any outright nutcases this series who'll live on in the imagination, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - it means the quality of candidates is probably better than ever."

Lorraine Tighe

"She's difficult to love, though the other candidates are always surprisingly nice about her when they talk about her on You're Fired. She's a bit in-your-face and alienates people, so I don't think...
