The latest Doctor Who special, The Waters of Mars, will be shown on BBC1 at 7:00pm on Sunday 15 November, a BBC source announced today.
The story is one of three remaining episodes starring David Tennant as the Time Lord before the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, takes over in 2010. Tennant's two-part swan song, The End of Time, will air over the Christmas/New Year holiday period.
Meanwhile, incoming executive producer Steven Moffat has been talking up new signing Matt Smith. He called him "the best" and claims that, despite being the youngster actor ever to play the role, Smith, 27, is "all the things you'd expect [from the Doctor], including ancient" and "someone you can't take your eyes off".
But it's not only the Doctor who will be getting a face-lift for the new series. The Tardis has also undergone a significant transformation. "There is a plot reason for it," said Moffat, "[but] I always liked the Tardis from the Peter Cushing [Doctor Who] movies, and wanted to make it more like that."

well Im in no hurry for it. To be in a hurry is to wish your life away - for the sake of a DW episode! I have no doubt it'll be a good'n. But why is there no blog on the recent SJA/DW cross-over story? So here is my thoughts on that:
I think if they had spent less time on the wooing process which took up most of Part1, and more time on the main story involving The Spinster (or whatever it was) etc., we might have got a more coherant story. In some respects I liken it to that early CiN attempt 'Dimensions in Time' which was by far, a more complex story than could be told in 8 mins and which is why it didn't work at all well. The same goes here, trying to cram a complicated story into basically the last 20 mins or so when they could have spread it across the full 45-50 mins worth of air time available to them.
Apart from that there were a few inaudible explanatory bits which I found most annoying. I expect when I review it, I'll catch it better but the point is it should be heard first time 'round. I tell you tv productions in general are becoming quite sloppy these days with poor sound, too much 'incidental music' and too much reliance on CGI.
Gripe ends.

Glad it's not just me - I even got choked up at the end of the Sarah Jane Adventure last week, when the Doctor said "Don't forget me, Sarah Jane," and she said that no-one would ever forget him... knowing that SJA was the last thing DT filmed as the tenth doctor, that was more than enough to set me off. Bulk buying of kleenex required before the Christmas specials...

Heck MariaTanner I was sobbing at the end of Rose's journey with the doctor AND at the end of the last series - David Tennant played such a fragile doctor. When he said 'they break my heart' in the Two doctors episode I was crying!!! Wonder if Matt Smith will have the same effect?

Is Matt Smith too young? Not for the role, but for me? I've been an avid Whovian since the days of Pertwee and loved Ecclestone and Tennant. But Matt Smith looks so young he might be the one to finally make me grow up and start watching adult drama instead.
