Biggest faker

We all know saying things like "Is there chicken in chick peas?" can endear housemates to viewers, which begs the question - is Sophie really as dumb as she makes out? Her performance in the geography test was suspicious.

Don't get me wrong, my geography is nearly as appalling as hers - it was in the diary room afterwards, when she insisted on calling Senegal "Senelegal", even after hearing BB pronounce it correctly several times, that it all looked a bit suspect. Sophie's not stupid. "Chad? The only Chad I know is Chad Michael Murray." Even her attempts to sound dumb are clever.

Rodrigo's fake laugh, which he can switch on and off at will, is increasingly used as a weapon rather than a genuine response to something funny. And he's not the ray of sunshine so many people seem to think he is, either.

He doesn't like people moaning or being negative - but he constantly has temper tantrums of his own. He wants people to treat each other with respect, but he doesn't respect their points of view.

And then, of course, there are the rules.

I'm no anarchist myself, but Rodrigo is so in love with authoritarianism it's frightening. I wouldn't want to be at his mercy in one of those social experiments where the person in the other room is told to administer an electric shock. And I can just envisage him as a leather-clad camp commandant, ordering horrific things to be done to people and all the while laughing that weird dead laugh. Then again, maybe that's just me…

Greatest escape

Lisa and David went on an unexpected excursion on Tuesday. Dressed as giant furry aliens they boarded an open-topped bus, stopping off at some of London's most famous landmarks to persuade tourists to take photos of them.

After 12 weeks in the Big Brother compound, cars, trees and people were all the most exciting things ever, and back at the house the pair were still on a high: "I've been let out into all those people and not one of them knew it was me!" buzzed Lisa. And if you hadn't been in disguise, Lisa, they still wouldn't have known who you were. Two million viewers and dropping…

While Lisa and David were getting away from it all, the rest of the housemates managed an escape of their own. A bored and petulant Big Brother demanded to be entertained and in the ensuing chaos the housemates found themselves "through the looking glass" on the real-world side of the house!

As they darted through the gloomy corridors, pursued by cameramen, dodging burly security, and ducking under the skeletal struts that prop up the interior facade of the house, the spectre of BB's recently announced fate loomed large. A line had been crossed, the spell was broken and the end was nigh - or maybe I'd just had one too many gins…

Biggest news story

Talking of the whole "Big Brother axed" story - let's not get too carried away just yet.

There's still another series to come next summer (not to mention Celebrity Big Brother in January) and we'll see the same headlines again then. The only real news is that Channel 4 has chosen not to renew its contract with Endemol. Other broadcasters will be able to bid for the show, and although some have already ruled it out, the way TV ratings are flagging it might look more attractive in a year. Anyway, TV producers love a comeback - you only have to watch EastEnders to see that.

So if you love BB, don't start mourning just yet. And if you hate it, put down that party popper - like Dirty Den, I won't believe it's dead 'til I see a corpse.
