Katie & Peter: the Next Chapter Stateside

Katie & Peter: the Next Chapter Stateside began with a tautological fanfare from the excitable narrator: "Britain's number one celebrity couple in the UK are back!"

It was at this point that I could feel my brain cells draining away, like scum down a plughole. It's my own fault - the fumblings of Katie Price and her husband, Peter Andre, always have this effect on me, yet I keep going back for more.

This time, the couple are off to America, where Peter hopes to revive his music career - though Peter, who looks like a shocked Action Man, appears to have other priorities when it comes to his trampoline-lipped wife: "I so reckon you're gonna get pregnant in America."

We watched the couple packing scores of bags in their huge, echo-filled (haven't these people heard of carpets?), Sylvanian Families home in England, corralling their small children and bickering (she thinks he's seeing someone else, he denies it and so on).

Before they leave for America - and no-one appears to have asked America if it actually wants Katie and Peter - they "guest-edit" a tabloid newspaper, which involves commenting on pictures of celebrities, which seems a bit rich.

There was, at least, a shaft of self-awareness from Katie, who, after lots of plastic surgery - which she's never been afraid to document in all its glory in her previous TV series - could now pass for a sordid-looking Lady Penelope puppet. She mused, "I used to be [good-looking] before I started fiddling with myself."

you have to love this show, i love peter with the kids, especially junior. kates mean.

It's a great show - look at the audience figures.

I hate the sort of old fashioned snobbery displayed in this review.
