Trainee stockbrokers earn about 20k a year, that's about 4 or 500 pounds a week. Ben thinks making money is better than sex, well it doesn't sound like he actually makes a lot of money so I don't understand his basis for such a ridiculous statement.

Debrah appalling. Cant imagine what it might be like to work with her. What a mouth! Philip n Ben .. my goodness, P --lip is it. And he has more than enough. Are these people professionals? If so the UK is in trouble. With a couple of exceptions, they behave like a load of uneducated fools. Apart from Noorol, whose gone. Lorraine and James arethe only ones left with any common sense. James is a bit of a dark horse, and likely to have qualities up his sleeve that haven't come to light yet. He also has a lovely personality, manners and no edge to him. which you can't say about Madame Deborah, James and Big Ben in braces. Little boy trying to be a man. Not yet luvy.

The tasks given, could be done by anyone with any sense. One has to ask who chooses these people. Mr. Alan surely has more sense. I used to watch Donald's Apprentice show when i lived in Singapore It was much more sophisticated and professional. At least the majority of the candidates were educated enough to sell second hand stuff. The British production is very weak. The candidates also. These people struggle with the simplest tasks. James. Lorraine. Wish you luck. As for 'making money better than sex' What a foolish comment. Especially in the present financial climate.

Watching The Apprentice last night made me sooo uncomfortable, and there don't appear to be any decent candidates, certainly no one I'd really want to work with. The cream of British industry they certainly are not and the Debra woman is appalling! I was horrified when she started to try and stir up trouble and back stab the other half of her own team in the taxi, and was impressed with the way Ben handled it. And then her performance in the boardroom was just horrifying: how can anyone think it is ever appropriate to speak in that aggressive and ignorant fashion in a business context is beyond me! She should have been fired, purely because she needs to take time out and learn some common courtesy and basic manners. Sir Alan did not go far enough, he should totally have got rid of her.

Another hilarious attempt by mostly a bunch of egocentric, self centred dullards ~ why do these clowns have to be so vile in their attempts to pass the buck ~ Debra Barr strikes me as one slippery, poisonous woman ~ I wouldn't give her a job cleaning our toilets ~ as for poor wee Ben and not having good sex yet, well I guess that's because so far he has only experienced that with himself such is his love for himself ~ still it is great entertainment and I wouldn't miss one show !

Kate to Win as she is the only good looking one! All seem too overconfident, even for the world of business where it is essential to be confident!

Oh dear - why is it that in order to 'succeed' people no longer have the quality called modesty? They all sound thoroughly unpleasant. I thought the point of being an apprentice was to learn a trade or a profession but these individuals seem to believe they know it all. Heaven help us.

Oh so many to choose from, but theres a couple that look keen to go, ben making money is better than sex, well he didnt say better than great sex did he, but maybe there speaks a boy who hasnt quite reached the stpes of manhood yet - mind you he got on the programme so maybe that remark was a well thought out cunning plan which has worked so far and he is out to suprise us in real life. should i hold my breath?

perhaps

not

I think James McQuillan, 32, senior commercial manager is the only person with substance to reach the finals.

I think Noorul will be entertaining coming from a teaching background, wonder if he puts anyone in detention.

I have my doubts about Ben Clarke, Paula Jones and Philip Taylor, and wouldn't be surprised if they make a mess of their assignments. When will the contestants learn not to say glib, smarty pants things when they are first interviewed? What they say will only come back to haunt them when they fail!

Impactful is that even a word? NO its a non-existent word coined by corporate advertising, marketing and business drones

"making money is better than sex..." Poor little Ben. As a stock broker, he'll be disappointed in the future. On both fronts.

All the usual trite comments. As Suzanne says - another bunch of losers. And if they are the best of the current applicants, no wonder that we are in recession.

A collective of egos, methinks (collective noun "A flatluence"?) . Who actually has any ability or common sense remains to be seen.

Mmm. a trainee stockbroker who thinks making money is better than sex. Hasn't anyone told him that the city testosterone image is no longer clever or even cool?

Unless he learns to fancy himself less I don't think Ben is going to last very long, but at 22 the world is still his oyster. Let's just hope they all give us a good show :-)

They look another bunch of losers. If the quotes are to be believed I wouldn't even offer them an interview.
