Little Britain's Matt Lucas and former EastEnder Sean Maguire are in the midst of shooting a new sword and sorcery comedy series - the catchily titled Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.
Maguire, most recently seen on our screens in US ensemble sitcom The Class, plays reluctant hero Krod Mandoon, the last hope in the struggle against the realm's evil ruler Chancellor Dongalor, played by Lucas.
Joining Maguire on his quest are a number of actors who already boast sci-fi/fantasy credentials. John Rhys-Davies was Gimli the dwarf in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Steve Speirs had a part in Star Wars movie The Phantom Menace and James Murray was a time-travelling dinosaur hunter in ITV's Primeval. Also featuring is Run, Fatboy, Run star India de Beaufort, as a beautiful pagan warrior "whose weapon of choice is sex".
A collaboration between BBC2 and US channel Comedy Central, Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire is due over here in spring of next year.
BBC3 partners with Bebo for multi-platform project
BBC3 launches its first ever multi-platform comedy-drama project, Mouth to Mouth, online on Monday 27 October. The show follows wannabe girl band Cats Eyes as they get their big break in the music industry, and promises a meditation on "the perils and pitfalls of the modern day phenomenon that is disposable celebrity".
BBC3 will screen a 30-minute long programme on Friday 7 November, consisting of a series of "funny, wry and moving" straight-to-camera monologues. But social networking site Bebo, and BBC3's own dedicated site, will offer extra material online as well.
Along with music and "press coverage" of Cats Eyes (video, photos and articles), the programme makers will be looking to users to provide feedback on what they've seen, which will help to shape any future episodes of the show.
