John Cleese returns to British TV this October as part of a major overhaul for popular digital channel Dave. He'll present Batteries Not Included, a light-hearted series about gadgets that features fellow comedians Alex Zane, Dom Joly and Richard Herring.
Dave's slate of new programmes - up to now it's been focused on repeats - also includes Argumental, a panel show where chairman John Sergeant will encourage team captains Marcus Brigstocke and Rufus Hound to have a good barney; Car of the Year, hosted by Johnny Vaughan, and the return of Red Dwarf. Dave has commissioned four new episodes of the cult space sitcom, reuniting the original cast members for stories combining new material with archive clips.
So what do you think? Are you looking forward to the new episodes of Red Dwarf or should Dave leave well enough alone? Post a comment below.

It should be good, as long as they don't try to go for drama over comedy like series 7 did. Series 8 got more back to form, but still not as great as series' 36. I'll expect something good, but not as great as the old stuff.

Most will agree the early series were the best. When shows become successful, money gets thrown at them and some of the spirit is replaced by glossy special effects...style over substance. Perhaps Dave's lower budget will help recapture some of the magic lost to the gloss. It's difficult to resurrect old shows successfully...Del Boy and Rodney are testament to that...but it's only a few shows and there's nothing wrong with giving it a go. Looking forward to it

I'm so hungry for some Dwarf i don't care if its the don or cheesy pie. I didn't like series 7,8 for so long but I'm glad they were made.I think we all have such high expectations its easy to be let down.

It doesn't matter if the sets are cheap, its the writing and comedy that counts. The best series of Red Dwarf were the first 2, which were done cheaply. It was just 2 guys in a situation they cant get out of, that dont like each other. I hope for more of the same.

Red dwarf got progressively worse over every series. series 14 were the best thing ever to grace british tv, but (aside form the odd episode) series 58 were pretty bad.
I hope they can stick to the simple old stuff that made red dwarf so legendary. I would not like to see a repeat of series 8.

Red Dwarf - brilliant! Big question though, will it be both of the original writers?

Boys from the Dwarf! Thanks to Dave for giving us adoring fans a new nibble of our favourite. We're looking forward to this treat with great excitement. It doesn't have to be perfect, just be our Dwarfers. Big love, guys & gals.

Great stuff, Red Dwarf could do with some new episodes - I hope they have some good stories lined up (unlike the latest 2 series)

It's cold out there, no kind of atmosphere.... That is brilliant that they are doing a few more episodes of Red Dwarf. Very much looking forwards to that.

I think the proof will be in the pudding. It very much depends on how it's handled. the last series was unfunny.

It was the writing that made red dwarf exceptional. The cast were great, but not sufficient on their own. The bit about "combining new material with archive clips" sounds like Friends, and I don't mean that in a nice way. I hope it is great - I will certainly watch it

I've seen Dave's last attempt at an original series. It was clearly done on a shoestring budget, and the cheap tacky set ruined what could have been a decent panel show. I hope they don't make the same mistake again.
