Strictly Come Dancing is back, it's bigger and it's longer: the new sixth series is to get an extended run and will feature 16 celebrities. See them all right now as they film Strictly's famous sparkling title sequence.

"The show is bigger than ever with 16 contestants," says host Bruce Forsyth. "It's going to need stamina as well as style to become this year's champion. I've got a sixth sense about the sixth series: the winner will be a man...or a woman!"

The women in this year's series include S Club 7's Rachel Stevens, who has landed herself the ever-modest Vincent Simone as her dance teacher. Model Lisa Snowdon has the humble Brendan Cole, while this time it's actress Gillian Taylforth who will be partnered with the gentleman Anton Du Beke. Singer Heather Small joins new professional dancer Brian Fortuna.

Dancer Ian Waite's pupil is model Jodie Kidd, while presenter Christine Bleakley gets Matthew Cutler and actress Cherie Lunghi draws James Jordan. EastEnders is well represented this year: as well as Taylforth, Jessie Wallace is dancing with Darren Bennett and Phil Daniels partners Flavia Cacace.

Holby City star Tom Chambers will dance with Camilla Dallerup and fellow actor Don Warrington will step out onto the dance floor with Lilia Kopylova.

GMTV is represented again but this time with a man: presenter Andrew Castle is to dance with Ola Jordan and will hope to improve on the breakfast show's poor track record.

Chef Gary Rhodes is this year's partner for Karen Hardy, Olympic swimmer Mark Foster joins new professional Hayley Holt and rugby star Austin Healey is with Erin Boag, while journalist John Sergeant will pair up with Kristina Rihanoff.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC1 on Saturday nights in September. Once more there will be a Sunday night results show - and throughout the week Claudia Winkleman will again front the It Takes Two backstage series.

I thought this was "Strictly Come Dancing". For the second time it is becoming "Strictly Come Coreography". Len Goodman as the only "Dance" judge on the panel has been outvoted by the three coreographers on the judging panel. He would have kept Jessie Wallace instead of the one the coreographers chose again tonight on the results programme. It is time the panel was made more even bring in another "Dance" judge to give 5 judges and even things up. In "Dancing on Ice" the majority of the judges are or have been Ice Skaters and the result is based firstly on skating and then coreography comes in to the final marking. I hope that "Strictly Come Dancing" can learn from another equally successful ppopular programme.

My take on SCD's new series is this....whoever Arlene pronounces to be a natural dancer...we have the winner so don't bother to watch until the last show to see if I am correct.

I think that whilst Strictly Come Dancing was a brilliant idea when it first came out, it has now completely passed its sell-by date. I would have thought that with all the scandal of phone-in shows that the BBC has had it would have stopped doing them. I think Bruce Forsyth is a lovely gentleman and Strictly Come Dancing is very fortunate to have him but I will definitely NOT be watching it as I feel it is a programme that the BBC is making on the cheap. ALL reality phone-shows should be stopped. I think it is a poor excuse that some of the money from the phone-in goes to charity. I do not believe that for a minute.

In response to Dan's comment, it certainly wasn't painfully obvious at any point during the last series of SCD who was going to win! Even after Kelly Brook had to drop out, leaving Alesha as the frontrunner amongst the females, there was strong competition from Gethin and Matt; Alesha certainly demonstrated that she had winning potential very early on, but there were no foregone conclusions!

I watched SCD for the first time last year and enjoyed it. But, is it always painfully obvious who's going to win by Week 5? The latter half of the series dragged terribly for me. By *Week 3* it was obvious Alesha was the best dancer, and I suspected as much in Week 1 to be honest! Y'know, owing to the fact she was the most attractive, likeable and a former singer with choreography experience.
