Big Brother: week 11

Nicole is upset. She doesn't want to be known as just Rex's girlfriend. She wants to be part of the group, friends with the other housemates. Yes. The people she refers to as "they". People like Sara and Mo, for whom she can't spare a cigarette. People like blind Mikey, who is unable to follow simple dance steps even when she gives him explicit instructions like "do this, then go like this".
Nicole and Rex have a lot in common. Neither ever spares a moment's thought for anyone but themselves. They both think they are owed respect but they treat other people like dirt. They're happy to take (cigarettes, for instance, by the pack), but when it comes to giving (just one)? No chance. People must pander to Princess Nicole, help her in her difficult situation, and recognise her for the superior person she is. Rex, meanwhile, demands respect for his leadership qualities (read bullying) and his many achievements (he owns a restaurant, you know).
Rex and Nicole's inherent nastiness is wearing me down. It's depressing. God knows what it's like for the other housemates, who are with them 24 hours a day. I want them both to go away. They are spoiling the Big Brother experience for me with their horrible behaviour and their frustrating dysfunctional "love"/hate relationship.
The worst thing is, we can't just ignore them and concentrate on what the other housemates are doing, because one way or another they've all been sucked into their tawdry little drama. Everything that's happening in the house at the moment is related to Rex and Nicole. Like Sara's resentment of Rex, who is (surprise!) treating her differently since his girlfriend arrived. And Mikey's righteous anger towards the two of them for being so despicable. And Kat's occasional attempts to smooth things over. And
and
just - everything! Gah!
Preparing for the latest task should have been fun - the dance routine to Thriller is brilliant and it could be another OK, Go! moment - but Rex is both head of house and choreographer, and he's made Nicole the star of the show. So it's all centred on them.
Surely, Nicole will go on Friday. But what about Rex? What worries me is that some of the housemates still seem to consider him a friend, a decent human being, and are happy to put up with his constant abuse. I really hope that the public aren't as forgiving. Because although this hasn't necessarily been the most exciting Big Brother ever, I've enjoyed having a few people in the house that I actually quite like and I think if Nicole and Rex were gone, it could be a fun final week.
In the meantime, all the joy is being drained out of the house and there's nothing we can do about it.
No, wait! I just remembered! Mo ate Mikey's bogie in return for a can of cider! Brilliant. I might go and watch it again to cheer myself up. Even that makes me want to vomit less than thinking about Rex and Nicole

Rex hasn't got"a better side" as mentioned in a previous post.He is totally obnoxious and I can't understand how the other housemates put up with his appalling behaviour. It's almost as if they're afraid of him and daren't say anything. His parents must be so ashamed of him.
When is Big Brother going to intervene on Sarah's behalf in Darnell's incessant bullying of the poor girl which reached a peak in tonight's (26th August) episode? She coped well with his merciless tirade but absolutely no-one supported her in the face of his continuous abuse. They just sat there and did nothing.Later on in the "wardrobe" Sarah appeared to be in a near state of collapse whilst Kathreya tried to comfort her.
Once upon a time I considered Darnell as a possible candidate to win but not anymore and I would think by his actions he has become very unpopular with the public.

I want Mikey to win just for the fact that he is the only house mate to tell the gruesome twosome how it is. The are so full of the selves. did any one else see the one where Rex was saying he wasn't ginger. Oh my God!!!!!!!

I agree 100% and so does everyone I speak to the house would be much better with them both gone, Nicole coming into the house was a very big mistake she is such a horrible person and has brought everybodies mood down she is rude, arrogant, and sour faced, if I had a daughter like her I would be ashamed, I think when she goes tomorrow the house will be a much better place.

Excellent article - I agree with every word.
And what about when Nicole didn't want the sausages to burn, but couldn't be bothered to get up to check? She asked a blind man to bring a huge pan full of hot oil to her instead. Behaviour beyond belief.

What an excellent post! I agreed with everything you say (except maybe the very last bit about mikey and Mo - Ewwww!) NicoRex has ruined the last couple of weeks for me. We got rid of two of the most annoying people in Bex and Luke only to have this. Sadly, I can see him being in the final week. Well done again for a brilliant post.

I totally agree. They're both so self-absorbed and obnoxious I think that - although they secretely despise each other - they also realise no one else would have them.

I love the Rex and Nicole Show. Is this a good place to get a message to Davina: I understand you and BB don't want to encourage a public hanging, but are you aware the people do not want you to do a chummy interview on Friday?
