Controversy 4/5

"You-wouldn't-like-it-if-I-went-an'-put-your-stuff-in-the-bin-so-can- you-go-an'-get-my-stuff-out-of-the-bin-that-you-put-in-the-bin- 'cos-you-got-no-right-to-touch-my-stuff-and-put-it-in-the-bin".

Gah! Bex's Vicky Pollard-style verbal machine-gunning is enough to make you want to put her in the bin (preferably just as the dustcart is pulling up outside). And the vengeful mutilation of Mohamed's lovely pink belt after he supposedly smoked her last scrap of tobacco was going a bit far.

But at least it's something happening - that would be what Bex and Jen would say. They've been bitching incessantly about how boring everyone is and how they want the fun people back. You know, like that infuriating child Sylvia, or Dennis, who spat in a fellow housemate's face (bumping this week's controversy rating up to 4/5), or even Alex, who threatened to take out a hit on those who nominated her. You know, just someone interesting.

Tasks 5/5

Superb. The idea of re-creating OK Go's treadmill-based music video was pure genius. And, following a shaky start - which saw Rachel get hysterical after slightly grazing her finger - Rex stepped in and the housemates pulled it off nicely. In case you didn't see it, here it is. And here's the original. And here, for Facebook users, is the Big Brother production team testing it out themselves (warning: may contain swearing). Impressive.

The next task was intriguing too. Housemates were temporarily deprived of their sight by blacked-out goggles. Luke managed to cop a feel of Jennifer, Rebecca got poked repeatedly by Dale and it gave everyone an insight into what life is like for Mikey, every hour of every day, and even made one or two of them think about what is and isn't worth whingeing about. Y'know, for a few minutes…

Speaking of Mikey, have you noticed that he's been being very mischievous in the diary room over the past few weeks? Of the "blindness" task, he said "it really opened people's eyes," while last week he complained that people were trying to "pull the wool over his eyes" because he was blind. Well, you just keep it up, Mikey. I'm not going there, oh no.

Finally, the animal task. Well. Anything that involves Jen getting cold, fishy water chucked over her at regular intervals before being evicted (come on, people!) has to be good.

Love 1/5

Darnell wasn't feeling any this week. He thinks all the other housemates are somebody's favourite but he's not. To be fair, Darnell is practically amphibious and his lengthy stints in the bath must have cut drastically into the time people have had to get close to him. But, Darnell, for what it's worth, you're my favourite (even if you will insist on writing songs about, like, everything. "Hey, dude, what's, like, a modern, cool lyric to say that I've just been to the toilet?")

Yeah, Darnell is just about the smartest housemate - he's shown that in his subtle insights into group dynamics and individual housemates' motivations - and he's also probably the most sensitive (in a thoughtful, moral kind of way rather than a Kat and Rachel "happy, happy house" way).

So you had to feel for him when he walked in on Mario slathering Lisa in fake tan, with only a pair of hands and a strip of dental floss between Darnell and permanent mental scarring. This is probably the one occasion he can count himself lucky his eyesight isn't great…

I absolutely love Darnell, he is definitely the most insightful and perceptive housemate there. I really hope that a positive reaction from the public will restore some of his confidence and self-belief, for one so discriminating and emotionally intelligent he is distinctly lacking in self-awareness if he thinks that he is disliked for being the most genuine and honest contestant. Most of his observations are spot on and what normal person wouldn't lose their temper once in a while when surrounded by so many egomaniacs and imbeciles?

I hope he wins.
