Rough Cuts is mildly surprised to see yet another head sprout from the Hydra that is Katie Price’s media empire in the form of her very own magazine, a new organ appropriately titled Katie.
The Comeback Girl author made the announcement on Twitter yesterday, promising to launch the new title this September with a publicity campaign that will see the 33-year-old touring branches of WH Smith the length and breadth of the country and sporting “a great TINY outfit”.
Ever the industrialist, Price is reported to have become a one-woman editorial team, penning all the magazine’s articles and selecting all of its pictures. Where does she find the time, that’s what Rough Cuts wants to know?
“Over the years I've been interviewed in the press hundreds of times and usually get asked the same boring questions - most of the time about plastic surgery and men - so I'm excited to show a side of me that you don't usually get a chance to see in the mags," said the writer, discussing the content of her magazine.
Indeed. Apparently the debut issue will feature Price’s thoughts on celebrity style, a selection of beauty products the mum of three can’t live without, and her personal holiday nightmares.
Scoff if you must, but with much of the publishing industry reeling as a result of the recession, the rush of Price’s fans to newsagents' neglected magazine racks might just be the shot in the arm this business needs. Good on you, Katie. All the best of British!
